This years Christmas Show and Gumbo was a big success. Thanks to all who attended and contributed to this years event. Chef Patrick and all his helpers did a good job with the Chicken Gumbo.

Moss Bluff Harvest Festival

Moss Bluff Harvest Festival Car, Truck, and Motorcycle Show November 19, 2011. About 25 Idlers Show Cars attended this event. New cars and trucks included two 1955 Chevy's and three Willy's Jeeps. One was a nice looking Jeepster. See some of the cars and trucks below.

The Little Troopers Benefit was a big success!

The Little Trooper Benefit held on November 12, 2011 was a big success. Several thousand dollars was raised for the children of deployed soldiers of Calcasieu parish. Idlers Car Cub and Contraband Corvette alone raised over $1,000.00. A local motorcycle club raised $700.00. In attendance was the Idlers Car and Truck Club, the Contraband Corvette Club and a local Motorcycle Club.

Idlers Show for the "Little Troopers" of Calcasieu Parish November 12th 2011

The Idlers have been asked to participate in the "LITTLE TROOPERS BENEFIT" which is a benefit for the children of deployed soldiers of Calcasieu parish. The money raised is used to ensure that these children get Christmas gifts. There will be Elvis impersonators, an auction, games for the kids, food and more.

The benefit will be held on November 12th 2011 at the American Legion Post 407 in Westlake, LA on Johnstein Rd. (The last red light going north on Sampson St in Westlake) Registration will be from 8:00 am until 9:30 am. There will be 5 awards given out at the show.

This is a very worthy cause so please try to come out on November 12th.

For Sale a 1967 Chevrolet Impala SS. She was an original SS 327 Granada Gold metallic, with black top, gold interior and built in Canada. It had a ground up restoration in 2006 and converted to a SS427. The hood was replaced with an original rare 1967 SS427.

The pictures do not give her justice! This has been a project of love and I am only selling because of my age and disability and as I am having a difficult time maintaining her in the condition she deserved. I have so much more in her than I am asking and have the receipts to show everything done to her.

More than 200 bikers rolled into Chennault International Airport for the Lake Charles inaugural Run with the Nuns Bike Ride on Saturday. Organized by the Christus St. Patrick Foundation, the fund-raising event included live bands, vendors, a rice & gravy cook-off, and a motorcycle and a Car and Truck show. The Car and Truck show was sponsored by the Idlers Show Cars and Show Trucks of Lake Charles.

According to Kay Barrett, Executive Director of Development for Christus St. Patrick Foundation, the event raised $50,000 for “The Center for Healthy Living.” The $5-million center is scheduled to break ground in late summer or early fall near Christus St. Patrick Hospital. Upon its completion, the center will promote health and wellness in the area.

THIS SATURDAY, MARCH 26, 2011, IS THE "RUN WITH THE NUNS" SHOW....THIS WILL BENEFIT THE CENTER FOR HEALTHY LIVING AT CHRISTUS ST. PATRICKS HOSPITAL. THE SHOW STARTS AT 9 AM BUT PLEASE BE THERE BY 8 AM. THE ENTRY FEE IS A $20.00 DONATION PER CAR AND 1 DRIVER WHICH INCLUDES BREAKFAST AND LUNCH (sampling of the rice and gravy cook off).

River Fest - Lake Arthur, Louisiana

If you missed River Fest in Lake Arthur you missed a great car, truck and motorcycle show. There were at least 200 cars, trucks and motorcycles attending. Several awards were won by Idlers members. The food was great and the hospitality was even better. Many thanks to the people of Lake Arthur and Illinois for their efforts in this special event. We will be back next year.

Idlers Show Cars and Show Truck March Show and Shine

Even with the gloomy forecast, the 1st Saturday of March Show is still scheduled. It is this Saturday, 3/5/11. The show is scheduled to be held at the Burton Coliseum parking lot Lake Charles, LA at 2 PM. There will be hamburgers and sausage this time with door prizes, trophies and more!

Mark's 1955 Chevrolet Project

Check out Mark's 1955 Chevy project. Mark is a new member and recently wrote me about his Classic Chevy.

I bought this car about 1 1/2 years ago in San Marcos, TX. It was bought from the original owner in a small town about 30 minutes from San Marcos by a father and son as a restore project about 20 years ago so I am the third owner. The son (who has been a frame guy in body shops all his life) has always kept the car indoors so the car is really straight and solid. With the exception of a replaced front pass. lower 1/4 panel (not due to rust) and very little tail pan repair, the car has all the original metal. He had the body blasted, body work done and epoxy primed when I bought it. Since I have had the car, I have removed the body off the frame, and used POR 15 to paint the frame and under the body. I replaced the original rear end with a 1972 Camero rear end, will run a 305 engine and 700R transmission. Other upgrades are 2 inch drop disc in front, 500 series power steering, old air a.c. unit, electric fan and aluminum radiator. Also I have updated the belt system with a serpentine set up out of an 89 GM truck. I am going to keep the car it's original 210 trim and paint it original 50s two tone paint. I still have the exhaust to run, new wiring to install and the front clip to install before I can get it on the road hopefully by early summer.

Run with the Nuns

The Idlers were asked to participate in the "Run with the Nuns" event on March 26, 2011. This is a benefit for the Center For Healthy Living at Christus St. Patrick's Hospital. It begins at 8 am at Chennault International Airport. There will be a motorcycle run and motorcycle show plus our car and truck show.

Entry fee is $20.00 per car which includes a free breakfast. Also you will be able to sample all the entries in the rice and gravy cook off without any cost. There will also be parachute jumping, a band, other vendors and more.

The Idlers Show Cars and Show Trucks gathered together at Fazzio's Napa Auto Center located at 1013 Beglis Parkway in Sulphur, LA. The Car and Truck show was held February 5, 2011. Cameron Fur and Wildlife FestivalCar & Truck Show

If you missed the Cameron Fur and Wildlife Festival Car, Truck and Motorcycle Show, you missed one of the best if not the best in the Southwest Louisiana area. About 45 cars and trucks plus 20 or more motorcycles attended this years event. About 20 Idler members and their Cars and Trucks attended. We had a great turnout.

The car show was directed by Thomas and Chuck McDaniel's of Cameron, Louisiana. Cook Johnnie McDaniel served up some great BBQ. Most that attended also participated in the Cameron Fur and Wildlife Festival parade that went through downtown Cameron. The downtown area was packed with thousands of on lookers who enjoyed seeing the cars and trucks.

Cameron Fur and Wildlife Festival - January 7-8 2011

The Cameron Fur and Wildlife Festival will be held in Cameron, Louisiana January 7 & 8 2011. On Saturday 1/8/2011 they will have a Car Show. All the Idlers Show Cars & Show Trucks are invited to attend. This is one of the better Car Shows you will ever attend. Also the parade starts at 1:00 pm so if you want to be in the parade in Cameron bring some throws, but they are not required.

The Idlers are planning to caravan down to Cameron on Saturday, for the car show. If you would like to join us please be at KK's Corner, the corner of Hwy 14 and Tom Hebert Rd, at 10:00 am on Saturday, 1/8/2011.

Idlers 1/1/2011 Show & Shine

The 1/1/2011 Idlers Show & Shine was a big success. It was cold but that didn't stop over 30 show car and show trucks from attending. Patrick Blanchard and Company cooked a very good chicken gumbo. Wesley Blanchard passed out several nice attendance prizes from our sponsors. We hope all members will attend the next Idlers Show & Shine in February at it's new location, Burton Coliseum parking lot. Lot's of room so come join us.
